Just be aware that alot of the people there will have just left high school and may not be too serious about their walk. Its a bible school not a theological college. It can be cliquie among the students ,you will probably hear some pretty unchristlike things from your fellow students if they walk in the flesh and there WILL be some folks like that there, maybe alot.Just depends.Thats good for your flesh too of course but its worth knowing. Stay focused,if you are serious about your relationship with God you will have a beneficial experience that will be a good grounding for whatever you are led to dolater on.It sounds like a bad report but its true and better you go in knowing that.

You might give thought to doing say winter school then going to these folks for some course. They do a long 6-9 month school in addition to short courses and healing retreats. The main difference is they teach about healing and deliverance to a greater extent and are not really a bible school.I would certainly reccomend them.

I have applied to Capernwray and am accepted for the 04-05 year. My question is "Are the majority of the students at the Hall right out of high school"? I am going to graduate in May from the University and am curious if I will be the oldest student there. Any info would help. Thanks!

When I attended Capernwray, there were students as old as in their 50's or even in their 60's. In other words, some of the students were older than some of the teachers.

Dear Jamie,

I attended Capernwray for Spring School 2003. Although some of the students were just out of high school I don't think a majority were. I had been out of high school for a year before I went. We had lots of people in their early twenties. We even had a few people in their forties and a few grandparents. It was a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy your time there as much as I did.

God bless you and keep you,
Elisabeth

I went to His Hill Bible School in Comfort, Texas. I did their first and second year program. I absolutley loved my time at a Torchbearers school. Currently - I am a student at Moody Bible Institute. I am a first semester sophmore and I would be happy to answer any questions you may have about either the Torchbears school - or about Moody. I would also be interested to hear about what you thought of Moody. Well - definitely go to God in prayer over your decision. Continue serving the Lord in All you do in life - Thomas H>Phil 1:21

How far in advance do you need to apply if you decide to go?

Hi Jamie,
well I am not right out of high school, I am already 26, when the school starts, so we are already two of the old students ;-)

I think you may have started your college education by now. But I hope that you chose Capernwray, Lancaster UK. I used to go when I was young in the 1960's. I often think back to the fun I had there, I did not go there for a term just one week at a time, each year. But these were the most fantastic days of my summer. Bible study, without mum and dad!! People my age - being together with the Lord Jesus. It was a Heaven taster. It always seemed to be summer there, in England we can have winter and summer on alternate days, but there it never rained. We could feel safe going for country walks within the grounds. Swim in the indoor pool. Play crocket on the lawn, like the rich of Victorian England! Have peace and quiet from the busy towns, but could visit the seaside on afternoons off. Play tricks on the lads in our group and generally be a young person without the pressure of everyday life. Yes I hope that you chose Capernwray. I also went to Schloss Klaus, Klaus, Austria for my 21st gift from my parents, all in all the Tornbearers Trust holidays were a brilliant start for me and most of my friends. So go for it. But if you chose else where why not go there for your 2 weeks summer holidays, you will not regret the Good Godly wise choice.

Hi Jamie, I went to Capernwray Hall in 1984/85 when I was 23. I too fiqured I'd be one of the old ones. My four roomates the first term were all 23. Indeed, several of my closest friends there were in their late 20s to early 40s. I was also very good friends with several first and second years out of HS. We were from 21 different countries and cultures, but despite that and the age differences we were all brothers and sisters in Christ, wwith a common purpose in life. You will do fine and probably be much more ready for God to speak at your age than if you were 18. I know I was. Although my year at Capernwray was 20 years ago, it remains to this day the turning point in my life, the year where I stopped trying to get more of God and let him get more of me. I wish you all the best and pray that God will make this year one that will be a life changing experience like it was for me. Graham - Vancouver, Canada

Hi Jamie,

I attended Capernwray New Zealand in 2002, and we had a younger group of people there than they had the season before. However, the second term was again an older group mixed with a younger group, so it really is a different mix every time. But like Graham mentioned, the age differences really makes no difference because you are all together on the same levels encouraging and loving each other. I wouldn't worry at all about being the oldest student there - there have been people in their seventies who have gone too! So enjoy your time there, stretch yourself, reach out to others and most of all.... listen to what God is saying to you.

It gave a radical change in my Christian life (although a change was desperately needed). It does not follow everyones theological views, but it does provoke study & a critical viewpoint and thus brings you closer to what the Lord wants. It is not comfy, it is challenging.

Do it!!! It is the best 6 month of my life, I've ever had. Attending Capernwray Winther Bible School 1988/89 gave me an insight in the Word of God, that is and will be the foundation for my life with Christ the rest of my life.
Do it! Do it! Do it! - I am sure you will never regret it!
Blessings
