They're from everywhere. When I was there, there were people from about 25 different countries. There were more American and Canadian students than British. And there were almost as many Germans as British.

Oh ok. That's interesting. Thanks. What's that like being around so many foreign people, I don't mean that in a rude way, let me say it different, like so many people from a different culture? Is it very different or was it kind of normal?... |

As an American who also had lived in Germany before then, I got used to it. It became no big deal. |

Having attended Capernwray in England and Tauernhof in Austria, I am convinced that Capernwray is more well rounded, while Tauernhof is more for the athletic, sports-minded, outdoor-oriented type of people. I don't know what the case is with the other schools.

I was there in 95-96.I have alot of good memories, roomed with some good blokes however in hindisght i should have gone a bit later, once i had a career and experienced a bit of responsibility.i somtimes think my time there was a bit wasted.Don't be tempted when you are there to fall into the good time trap,i wish i had studied alot more than i did;you dont realise till your older how precious those times are. Most of you wont appreciate this because you are in your early 20's and i ddn't listen to much then either but to get a year to spend with God,focusing on just Hm is so rare.when you get older its so hard to get that time.Make the most of it and concentrate wholly on Him;I urge you.Dont get romanticaly sidetracked by the opposite sex while your there ,spend time in the libary and make the most of it.Dont get side tracked after you leave either,i went running after the world when I left and it was 1999 before I got on my face before God again.Your youth(those who are still young)is such a good time for your walk with God.Lay that foundation now . I would give much to have that time over again. |

About 2 years ago, I made some negative comments about Capernwray due to what I was going through at that time. I now take those comments back and recommend Capernwray once again. |

By "that time", I mean the time I made those comments, not the time I attended Capernwray. |

Hey grade 12 friend. I went to Bodenseehof last year. The best time I have ever had. By all means...GO! If you like the arts, Bodenseehof is more music and drama focused...soo good. Close student body...awesome fellowship...amazing people. You grow. I live in Alberta...where do you live in Canada? Well, I think you should go... Also, Tauernhof is more athletically focused..

I would highly recommend going to Capernwray!!! I went to Winter School 98/99 and it changed my life, so much for the better. I had already finished college and just wanted to get more grounded in the Bible. I understood things about the Lord in new ways and made great friends in the process. I still keep in touch with several, even from other countries. If you can, definitely GO!!!! Blessings, Erin Cole

I attended Capernwray Bible School 1984/85. As a nervous, not knowing exactly what I believed Christian, I allowed God the time to speak to me during my time there. He did so in many ways. Yes, I met with some theologies that I wasn't too sure about, some people that I wasn't too sure about. But God was faithful and as I allowed Him, He moulded me into a much better and nicer person than I was when I first arrived. The friends that I made there are still friends to-day, 21 years later. I am ever thankful to God for the influence of Capernwray on my life and the challenging teaching I received from the lips of Godly men and women. Take my advise and just do it. GO. P.S. ( I note that some of our previous replyers have remained anonamous, Hey, if its worth saying, its worth putting your name to it ! ) |

Noel, I put in some of the anonymous quotes. Now that I have gotten over most of the issues I had when I first posted, I'll just tell you that my first name is Don.

Re: I am interested in attending Capernwray, has anyone any comments...?
Hey... I'm in grade 12, I'm From Canada. I've been busy looking for schools recently... my dad attended caperwray in texas, and thats one of the reasons why I've been looking at caperwray in the first place.... I've also been looking at different YWAM schools, and also Fuego College. Everyone has been saying about how great Cape is for building your faith and your relationship with God... but what i want to know is what can i get out of caperwray that i can't get out of any other christian college. I was looking at YWAM because its mission based-- I have a heart for service and missions. I know that caperwray has a week missions as well, and Fuego is in Guatamala, and a lot of that is missions based as well. And I definatly want to get away from home, and be more independant in my life and yet dependant on God. I've been praying about schools and I just want to know what it is that caperwray studies are about, not just going deeper with God. why did you first choose capernwray? Thanks soo much -Shauna |

Oh my goodness, Laura - go. That's my only advice - go. It was by FAR, the best year of my life. I guess I shouldn't mislead you - I've read the other comments people have given, and it's not for everyone. There IS the chance that you'll meet some people who don't respond kindly to your emails afterwards, but that has NOTHING to do with the school. Capernwray is NOT your typical Bible school (i.e. Go to lectures, write lots of papers, read a TON of textbooks, and do MASSIVE amounts of assignments). Capernwray is a school which teaches you to KNOW Jesus Christ more personally. There are assignments, and tests, and a few reports. But BY FAR, the majority of my learning came from quiet times alone with The Lord, from having fellow believers ALL AROUND ME from different parts of the world, and other things outside of the lectures / class times. Capernwray takes the Bible, and makes its teachings VERY practical. It teaches NOT theology, but HOW to live as a Christian. You'll meet a TON of people, you'll learn a TON if you're willing to focus, and if you go there with the intention of knowing Jesus Christ more personally, you WILL. He teaches EVERYONE differently when you're there, as He does in life. And He teaches you more effectively than any person, or any school ever could. Hope this helps. For more questions, feel free to email me. God bless. |
