For over sixty years we have been running Christian holidays from our beautiful manor house in the North West of England. Since the very beginning our mission has been to proclaim the transforming power of the Lord Jesus Christ to train people for service in the worldwide church. Whichever of our holidays you attend you are sure to find a warm welcome, inspiring Bible teaching and a packed programme of activities. Our aim is to give you a fantastic Christian holiday experience where you can encounter Jesus and be changed by him. We are confident that whatever your age or interest we have a holiday that’s right for you.

What our guests are saying about Capernwray Holidays…

Stephen Berry - REFRESH

Capernwray Hall is one of those rare places where I feel at rest as soon as I arrive. There is always something to do, even if it is just snoozing in the quiet lounge. The teaching often speaks to my heart and makes a life changing impact.

  • This was a fantastic family holiday with great food, great teaching and lovely, friendly staff. It had well organised events and activities set in a beautiful location.

Sarah Atkinson - IMPACT

Capernwray holidays are the highlights of my year. The teaching always encourages and challenges me in my walk with God, and it was here that I met some of my closest friends. I have already made so many great memories here and I look forward to making more

A STUNNING LOCATION

Capernwray Hall is set in over 127 acres of fabulous park and woodland. Built in the mid-1800s as a private home for the Lord Lieutenant of the county of Lancaster, the Scottish border is 70 miles to the north; to the east lie the Yorkshire Dales with their beautiful waterfalls and rugged crags and to the south is the City of Lancaster. Manchester international airport is just over an hour away. Many of our guests comment on our beautiful scenery and grounds, suggesting that our peaceful environment is one that promotes, rest, contemplation and opportunities to be alone with God. Families too enjoy the knowledge that children can run free about our property, making the maximum use of grassy slopes, fields, a private lake and gardens.

FULL BOARD ACCOMMODATION

Whichever of our Holidays you choose, we’ll aim to make it as relaxing and enjoyable as possible. That’s why all our holidays offer full-board accommodation, so you never need to think about planning, preparing and making meals – or the washing up afterwards! Our fantastic Dining Room can seat 250 people in a warm and welcoming environment, with staff to serve and take care of your every need. We serve a wide variety of food and can cater for vegetarians. We will try to cater for medically essential diets whenever possible if we are given details in advance of your visit. All meals are included in your holiday, usually from the evening meal on your arrival day to breakfast on your departure day.

BIBLE TEACHING

We plan to attend to your spiritual needs as well as your physical ones by providing inspiring worship times and encouraging Bible teaching on all of our holidays. As Bible teaching is so important to us we make sure it features in each of our holidays which means you will have at least one scheduled teaching session per day of your stay, usually as part of a worship or praise meeting. Some holidays, for example Summer Studies, will have many more teaching sessions than this, offering a more intensive, Bible school style experience. Breakfast devotions, campfire services, seminars, question and answer sessions and scheduled reflective times are just some of the ways that Bible teaching may be included in our varied and creative programme.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book a holiday

Once you have chosen your holiday you can follow any of the ‘Book Now’ links which will take you through to our booking site, which includes all the details we require from you.  Please make sure you fill in all the relevant boxes and include your payment details (credit or debit card). If you prefer to book by post, please download a booking form, or request one from us by phone or email. Once we have received your booking and checked that places are available, we will book you in and notify you of your confirmed booking and further information about your holiday in the post.

What kind of accommodation is available

The Hall has a number of different sized family style rooms. Every bedroom is simply and tastefully furnished with a wardrobe, a wash hand basin and bedside table. Showers and toilets are located near each bedroom. All rooms are made up for your arrival and bedding is provided, including a hand and bath towel for each person.

While we do everything to provide the accommodation of your choosing, we cannot promise that special requests can always be granted.  The varied sizes and styles of our rooms mean that some rooms are more suitable for guests with particular needs so it is not always possible to give everyone their first choice but please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any queries or requests and we will do everything we can to help you.

Do you offer single rooms?

Unfortunately, we do not have any single rooms but some smaller rooms, for 2 or 3 persons are available at an extra cost of £15 per person per week, or £10 per person per weekend. Please note that these rooms are limited so book early to ensure you get the room of your preference.

We also have some 2 bedded, ensuite rooms available at an extra cost of £30 per person per week, or £15 per person per weekend. Please indicate if you would like one of these rooms when you make your booking.

Can I request to share a room with a guest who is attending the same holiday?

You can request to share with others who you know are coming on the holiday. Please use the ‘additional information’ box on the booking form to do this and we will do everything we can to accommodate your request.

Do you have disabled access?

We aim to make our facilities as accessible and inclusive as possible, however, due to the age and layout of the property, there are some limitations. We are able to offer a small number of ground floor rooms which are designed and prioritized for guests with disabilities, including adapted doors and space for wheelchair users with specially designed showers and bathroom suites.

Do families have to share with other families?

Families with children will have a room of their own with the appropriate number of beds. Cots are also available if required.

Do I have to bring bedding or towels

All bedding and towels are provided but you should bring your own towels for use in the swimming pool.

How do I pay the remainder of my balance?

The balance of your fees must be paid in full by the due date on your confirmation letter which is 6 weeks before the start of your holiday. This may be paid in installments or in full. Payments are to be made in pounds sterling by Debit or Credit Card (please note that Credit cards incur a 2% charge), Cheque or Bank Transfer.

Can I do my own thing?

All our holidays offer an organised programme of events. This will vary depending on the holiday you chose, but generally will consist of Bible teaching/meetings, social times, structured activities, optional extras and free time.  To get the most out of your holiday we ask that all our guests join in with this programme as much as possible, however, we also understand that people come to us to relax and take it easy. We are sure you’ll find we offer a great balance of rest and activity!

Can I bring alcohol with me?

We do not allow alcohol or drugs on site at Capernwray Hall and ask our guests to respect our wishes in this matter. In addition, we ask that guests in our care who are under 18 years of age do not bring, obtain or consume alcohol or drugs on or off site during their stay

I am not a Christian, can I still come on holiday?

Yes, certainly, we particularly welcome those who are interested or asking questions about the Christian faith. We do expect all our guests to attend the meetings during their holiday, which means that while you may not fully accept or believe all that we do, we ask that you might approach them with an open mind. Our staff team would be very happy to discuss any questions or thoughts that you may have about this subject during your stay, or you can email us with your questions here.

Do you allow pets?

We regret we cannot allow any pets, with the exception of working animals.

Will you collect me?

We can collect guests from Carnforth train station or bus stop. We will contact you after you have booked to ask your arrival plans.

What time should I arrive for my holiday?

You should plan to arrive after 4pm on the day your holiday begins but if transport arrangements require you to arrive earlier, you will be welcome to sit and relax in one of our lounge areas until your room is ready. Please let us know if you are not going to arrive in time for the evening meal (6pm in Family weeks or 6.30pm on most other weeks) as hot food cannot be saved for an extended length of time and we would like to make sure that we can make alternative arrangements if possible and that we know when to expect you.

Is your reception open 24 hours a day?

Unfortunately, our office is not open 24 hours a day but in the case of an emergency please call our usual office number (0)1524 733908 which will give you an alternative number to contact.

Can I come as a day visitor?

It is sometimes possible to attend certain holidays as a day visitor. Please contact our holidays administrator to discuss this.

Can I receive post during my holiday?

Yes, we will leave any post that arrives for you during your holiday in our mailboxes under the main staircase. It is your responsibility to collect this.

Do you have free wi-fi?

We now have a 1GB fibre broadband connection here at Capernwray Hall. We believe it is the fastest in the area, and services all our public rooms in the main building and the new Conference Hall.  It supports Skype and Facetime, as well as the usual requirements for surfing and email. There are time restricions on its availability, so please do not expect a 24 hour service, and we do ask that you do not use LapTops in the Quiet rooms and the Lounge Hallway, or on any Staircase. At Capernwray Hall, unless you are purchasing a video (movie) or a service provided for example by NETFLIX, downloading of video is not permitted.

Do you cater for specific dietary needs?

We can cater for vegetarians and we will try to cater for medically essential diets whenever possible if we are given details in advance of your visit.
